All Creatures Sanctuary has been rescuing creatures of the two and four-legged variety since 1985.  Below is a short list of our activities:

Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation - over many years, we have received statewide awards and recognition for our tenacious work to save and protect precious wildlife.
Wildlife Refuge - A permanent sanctuary for our farm is given to creatures unable to be released in the wild.  They will live out there lives in peace on our farm.
Creatures 'n Crisis - A program to increase awareness of the need for peaceful co-existence between people and all the living creatures with whom we share our planet.  Protection of the Silver River Monkeys and Belleview's Lake Lillian Ducks are two ongoing concerns addressed by this program, led by our dedicated animal activists.
Animal Protection - Abused animals find sanctuary on our farm and we remain alert to state and local legislation affecting the rights of animals.  We also educate the community about the need for neutering and promoting kindness to all creatures.
Environmental Protection - We strive to preserve our precious natural resources.
Recycling - FFEA (our parent organization) was first to create a viable Recycling program in Marion County.  After noting widespread use and demand, the County began its own program three years later.
Earth Day - Now a project of the Marion Audubon Society, thousands have attended this spring event since FFEA first held it in 1985.

Other environmental education efforts include News Releases, Family Outings, Wildlife Workshops, and Public Presentations.

Born and raised in the cold horse country of upstate New York, Tish Hennessey helped pay for her undergraduate degree as a leading model for Eastman Kodak and as an equine trainer of competitive Hunter and Jumpers.

The harsh winters of upstate New York soon took a toll on Tish's lung condition, and she took refuge in the Sunshine State's beautiful Ocala.

In Ocala, she taught and furthered her own education, acquiring degrees to assist those with educational challenges and the administration of such programs.  She received certification in administration, elementary education, remedial reading, and math.

Tish soon became involved in the preservation of Ocala's fragile environment and all of the creatures (feathered, furred, scaled, and human) that inhabit this beautiful area.

Her past services have included:

Local Pursuits
  • President of Local Chamber of Commerce
  • President of Audubon Society of Marion County
  • Founder of several environmental and animal protection organizations including Foundation for Environmental Awareness (FFEA), Save the Osprey, Save the Silver River Monkey, and All Creatures Sanctuary
  • Co-founder, Environmental Advocates
  • Humane Society Board Member, Vice President, and Facilitator

Statewide Pursuits
  • Board Member and officer of Florida Audubon

In 1995, Tish's chronic lung condition worsened, rendering her unable to continue her formal teaching career.  The community rallied around her sending her to the world's finest lung clinic to successfully extend her life expectancy.

Her selfless spirit shines through her stabilized but critical lung condition.  Her undaunted spirit still remains as an excellent role model to rehabilitating criminals (adult and junior), addicts, welfare recipients, biology students, and wildlife enthusiasts.

All Tish Hennessey's civic and animal protection work has been achieved without financial compensation of any kind.  She gives of herself without any expectation of compensation or accolades.

In an age of cruelty, Tish strives to be an example of humane kindness to all life forms and the environment in which they live.

This orphaned fox was raised on our sanctuary by the feral cat beside it.

Our mission does not include dogs and cats -
There are agencies (Marion County animal Center) and organizations The Humane
Society of Marion County that specialize in dogs and cats. The severely sick and
injured dogs and cats that are abandoned at the sanctuary are our greatest heartache,
physical and emotional stress and tremendous financial burden. Many of the pets that
survive their horrific illness and injuries choose to live in the loving security of the
Sanctuary forever. Others indicate that they want a foster family of their own for
these animals the Sanctuary has a foster program.

The Sanctuary has a delightful foster program for dogs and cats only.
This:
1.  Gives both the animal and/or the family the option of
returning to the sanctuary if the situation is not perfect
for the (animal and humans) involved.
2.  Allows the Sanctuary to provide a support system of
     feed and advice as needed.
3.  Assures the Sanctuary that these special needs animals
will be returned to the safety of the Sanctuary if the
     foster home does not work.

The physical, emotional and financial overload that is created by heartless people
who dump their out of control, abused and injured dogs at our front gates has
been noted by L. J. a dear friend of the Sanctuary, who is planning a Mini Dog Park.
This Mini Park will be equipped with a shallow pond, for wallowing, plastic tunnels
for exploring, things to climb and areas to dig. L J & the Sanctuary Team need
your help to complete this dream.
You can HELP
Need Chain link Fence and Gates new or used (cannot disassemble).
Folks to help walk and re-socialize these abandoned
dogs. Financial & In-kind Donations to help with Dog
Park would be appreciated.

Allow room in your heart. Give a special needs dog a Home. Donations, financial or
material, are gratefully accepted. The Sanctuary receives no public funding and
carries out its mission to save animals through private donations of Individuals and
businesses just like you. Donations are always appreciated.
